Two mobile music vendors were placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday after they pleaded guilty to making loud and continuous noise.
Apart from the bond, the magistrate also ordered that their speakers and players be kept by the state.
The charge read that on January 13 at Regent Street, Prince Slowe, 21, of 25 Laing Avenue and Joel Nicholes, 20, of B Field Sophia operated their music carts loudly and continuously being a nuisance to persons using the road.
Slowe who stuck to his guilty plea told the court that he was not really playing his music loudly because he knew there was a campaign against music vendors. However he said that the police told him that they were given orders to take music vendors off the street.
