Twenty-three-year-old Ashim Rafeek died following a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday night.

Rakeek, who resided in Eccles on the East Coast of Demerara, died following a collision on the Vreed- en-Hoop Public Road, West Coast Demerara.

Rafeek, police said, was riding along the roadway at about 10:30 pm when he lost control of his motor cycle and collided with an oncoming motor car. He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the car has since been taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations, police said in a release.
