PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidadian all-rounder Imran Khan is hoping his success this season earns him a West Indies call up.
The 25-year-old has been outstanding this season, snatching 29 wickets to date with his leg-spin to be the leading bowler in the WICB regional first class championship.
He also slammed half centuries in each innings against Leeward Islands in the last round at the Foursquare Oval in Barbados to help push T&T to their first victory of the tournament.
“I will be going all out to score some big hundreds in the remaining matches,” Khan said.
“I am bowling well. I am doing some extra hours in the nets, practicing and experimenting on various deliveries. I want to continue doing well. My overall aim is to be selected on the West Indies team.”
Despite his success, however, T&T have struggled in the four-day tournament and are currently fourth on 21 points after four matches.
They were shocked by Combined Campuses and Colleges in the opening round in Jamaica and drew their next two matches against Guyana and Barbados.
Khan said players needed to improve their approach if results were to turn around.
“T&T could do much better if the players become a little more focused in the game,” Khan said.
The Trinidadians have a bye in the next round starting February 12 in Guyana before hosting the Windward Islands when the tournament moves here for the sixth round.
