PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Out-of-favour batsman Delbert Hicks has been leading a Guyanese domination of the North and South Championship Divisions here in recent weeks.
Hicks, a wicketkeeper/batsman who played a single first class match for Guyana last season, was in brilliant form slamming two massive centuries for Santa Cruz Sports including a sparkling double century.
He lashed 113 against Aranguez Sports and followed up with an unbeaten 264 in the next match against Canaan and Bon Accord Sports which helped his team to first innings points on both occasions.
Hicks was joined by former Guyana and West Indies leg-spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo who has picked up 20 wickets, including an innings haul of eight for 45, in leading Moosai’s Sports to outright wins against Bamboo Sports and Curepe Sports.
Dropped Guyanese batsman Krishna Arjune, who has not played first class cricket for just over a year, was also among the runs with 122 for Bamboo Sports against Aranguez Sport.
