A 29-year-old man who was burnt by his sister says he will not proceed with legal proceedings against her if she “just support me”.
John Williams of 78 South Haslington, East Coast Demerara is nursing burns to his back and left hand after his sister threw hot oil on him.
According to Williams, on Monday last his sister had fried some chips for his daughter. But his daughter was constantly crying so he took the chips and gave them to his son. When he was not looking, Williams said, his sister took the chips and gave them back to his daughter.
He said he again made a move to give the chips back to his son when his sister scrambled the chips out of the plate. Williams said that he then told his sister that she was stupid and it led to an exchange of words.
Williams said he left the kitchen and went on the veranda and was telling his cousin what took place when he heard his sister say “tek that” then felt the oil being poured on him.
Williams said he was being treated at the Enmore Health Centre but after the “pain getting even worse” he admitted himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The father of 11 said that he would be willing to forgive his sister and not press charges. “I think she should be the one to chip in now. Just support me.” He said that since being a patient of the Male Surgical Ward his sister has never visited him.
