Fuller arrested after nightclub incident

Fuller, 30, has been given bail pending further inquiries into the incident in which a 21-year-old man suffered facial injuries.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman reported that “At 1:00 am on Sunday an incident occurred at JFK nightclub in Trinity Street, following which a 30-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of assault”.

Stoke City acknowledged the incident on its web site but did not elaborate, only giving a brief statement on the arrest.

“The club can confirm that Fuller was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning following an incident in a nightclub in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. We will be making no further comment at this time,” Stoke said.

The skirmish happened just a few hours after Fuller had represented Stoke – without scoring — in a 3-0 win over Blackburn in an English premier league match.

This is Fuller’s second encounter with the law within a year.

In April last year, Fuller had to pay a 190-pound fine for driving without a UK licence.

Fuller, who joined Stoke ain August 2006, has displayed moderate scoring form in the premier league this season although he netted twice late last month in a huge FA Cup 3-1 upset win over Arsenal.

Fuller hit goals in the second and 78th minutes and lifted Stoke City to their first ever English FA Cup victory over the famous London club on January 24.
