A 39-year-old carpenter-mason was yesterday remanded after he pleaded not guilty to stealing items worth a total of $270,000 when he broke and entered the house of Vijay Jagnandan.
Terry Thomas of 109 Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara allegedly broke and entered the house of the Virtual Complainant (VC) on Monday and stole one Dell laptop valued $140,000, one digital camera valued $45,000, two cell phones valued $60,000 and two film cameras valued $25,000.
The items were recovered according to the VC.
She said that the security alarm went off and alerted the neighbours and the police came and caught Thomas in the yard. He broke and entered the house between 10 and 11.30 am, the VC told the court.
Meanwhile Police Prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Telford, asked that bail be refused and his application was granted. Thomas is to return to court on February 24 for statements.
