A clothes vendor was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton yesterday.
Blaze Bailey, 25, of 75 William Street, Campbellville allegedly on February 12 at Georgetown while being armed with a gun robbed Shondell Robins of one bunch of keys, a gold chain and a cell phone, a total value of $103,000.
Representing the accused, Attorney-at-Law James Bond in his bid for bail told the court that his client lives in the street adjacent to the virtual complainant (VC).
In the report which was given at the Kitty Police Station the VC did not name her accused, he said. She gave a description to her boyfriend who in turn identified his client as the accused, Bond said. He said his client had a totally unblemished record, was not a flight risk, would not interfere with the VC and in addition he had an alibi.
Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor Inspector Joel Ricknauth did not object to bail but asked that it to be set at a substantial sum.
Bailey was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 and is to return to Court Five on March 8.
