Two British women were arrested at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport yesterday with cocaine in the wigs they were wearing as they were preparing to board the same flight.
A press release from the Police Public Relations Office said that around 10.15 am ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch arrested a British woman, who was an outgoing passenger at the airport after 1 kg 26 grammes of cocaine were found concealed in a wig she was wearing at the time.
Subsequent information obtained led to the arrest of another British woman, who was on the same flight, and had 1 kg of cocaine also concealed in a wig.
They are in police custody and charges will be laid shortly, the release added.
