The Muslim Youth Organisation will be in a better position to keep their ground and surroundings in tip top shape after receiving a donation of a Craftsman grass cutter from members of the Guyanese community in the United States of America.
According to a release from MYO, Guyanese residing in New York, the Bronx and New Jersey along with a contribution from the Cane Grove Fund Raising group of New York contributed towards the purchase of the equipment.
Mohamed `Pally’ Ally, formerly of Cane Grove Strathaven, representing the overseas donors said they were very happy to assist the MYO and the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) with the LTS 1500 grass cutting tractor.
“We are really happy to make this contribution. We have been following and are very encouraged with the number of cricket competitions and sports activities that take place here at the MYO and we want to maintain and improve on this, thus the donation.
“I would like to see other Guyanese living abroad coming together and giving back to their communities and supporting developmental programmes back home.
“Contributions of this nature help to empower people and assist in guiding our young people in the right direction,” Ally added.
Director of Education and Da’Wah of the CIOG, Shaikh Moeen Hack was instrumental in initiating the donation on a recent visit to New York.
Accepting the equipment was MYO senior vice president Imran Ally, who expressed his organisation’s gratitude to the donors for the gift and promised that it will enhance their capacity to keep a well trimmed ground, immensely.
