Police at Linden are on the hunt for a Lower Kara Kara Mackenzie, Linden man who was sentenced to six months imprisonment after a simple larceny case against him was tried in his absence.
Omat Khan, 20, was charged with stealing 16 conveyor rollers valued $48,000, property of the Linmine Secretariat.
The offence was committed on November 6, 2008 and he was allegedly caught red-handed by officers attached to the Linmine Secretariat Security Department.
When the case against the Lot 42 Lower Kara Kara resident was called on Wednes-day at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court, Magis-trate Ann McLennan was informed that the defendant was absent.
Magistrate McLennan proceeded with the trial taking the statement of the prosecution’s final witness, Corporal Leonard La Rose.
She then found Khan guilty and sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
