BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Zimbabwe will touch down in the Caribbean this evening for their one-day series against West Indies.
The 15-man squad is expected to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago at 5:20 pm, to launch a series which will see them play five One-Day Internationals and a Twenty20 International.
Zimbabwe, whose Test status is still suspended by the International Cricket Council, will be led by Prosper Utseya who also captained the side at the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.
lan Butcher, the former England batsman, will be on his first assignment as coach after being appointed last week. Former Test batsman Grant Flower will serve as batting coach while former Test seamer Heath Streak will carry out duties as bowling coach.
All-rounders Greg Lamb and Shingirai Masakadza are the only two uncapped players in an otherwise familiar squad.
Zimbabwe are scheduled to play one warm-up match against a UWI Vice-Chancellor’s XI at the Frank Worrell Memorial Ground on Friday before taking on the Windies in the sole T20I at the Queen’s Park Oval on Sunday.
They will play a ODI double-header in Guyana next week before contesting the three final matches in St Vincent.
