The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) has sent a congratulatory message to young cyclist Geron Williams on his selection as Junior Sportsman of the Year.
Williams won the award when a panel comprising media operatives and members of the National Sports Commission (NSC) met earlier this month at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Following is the text of the message.
“The Guyana Cycling Federation extends congratulations to Geron Williams on his selection as `Junior Sportsman of The Year’.
It is an honour richly deserved as Geron Williams rode brilliantly and majestically during the year 2009, highlighted by his marvellous and exhilarating victory in the five- stage International Road Race last November.
Also Geron Williams is the first cyclist in decades to cop this prestigious award, the last being the highly touted and acclaimed Neville
Hunte.
We hope that Geron continues his brilliant performances in 2010 and achieve even greater success which he can most certainly accomplish with hard work, dedication and proper training as he has the ability and talent.
This noteworthy achievement by Geron Williams further highlights the fact that he is not only one of the top young cyclist in Guyana but also the region.
Kudos to Geron.”
