An aluminum speedboat valued at $300,000 belonging to the Mahaica, Mahaicony, Abary/Agricultural-Development-Authority (MMA/ADA) has reportedly been missing for two weeks now and a worker who lives at Gordon Table in the Mahaicony Creek was taken into custody.
This newspaper learnt that the boat was moored at Champagne in the creek close to the home of the captain when it disappeared. It was being used to transport fuel to the excavator that is currently digging the new canal in the area.
Reports are that the worker who was hired as the drainage and irrigation contractor with MMA from Abary to Mahaicony Creek two months ago was arrested after someone claimed that he had sold the boat to him.
However, the man’s brother told this newspaper yesterday that his brother does not own any boat. He said the police went to the brother’s home around 1:30 pm on Tuesday and arrested him even though they did not find him with any boat.
His brother whom he felt was wrongfully arrested was expected to be released yesterday afternoon.
