The prison officer who thwarted a man who tried to smuggle drugs into the Camp Street jail is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital after he fell and hit his head while chasing the man.
Oswin Savory, 25, of 25 Norton Street was rushed to the hospital yesterday in an unconscious state at 13:24 hours, a hospital release said.
According to one of his fellow prison officers, Savory had given chase to a man who had tried to sneak ganja into the prison. The man was reportedly bringing food for an inmate.
In the male surgical ward of the hospital, Savory was on his bed awake but was unresponsive.
