Brian Allen was elected president of the Roraima Bikers Club at the annual general meeting on Saturday.
Desmond Burch Smith, Mark Conway and Marlon Humphrey were elected first, second and third vice presidents while Theresa Pemberton will serve as secretary. The treasurer is Royston Anderson with Lynette Haynes the assistant secretary treasurer.
Darren Allen is the club captain while the committee members are Clifford Johnson, Christopher Marques, Royston Wright and Andrew Spencer.
George Emmerson and Samuel Barker are the Linden representatives.
George Humphrey is the patron.
A release from the club stated that it intends to implement a programme to help develop the members to become better persons by building self esteem and discipline.
A special committee headed by Burch Smith (a retired Judge) will “guide, counsel and prepare our cyclists to deal with the vagaries of life,” the release stated.
Plans are also afoot to have exchange programmes with sister clubs within the Caribbean.
“These clubs will facilitate our riders with training and exposure to higher levels of competition both on road and track/velodrome, “the release stated.
“We also have plans to increase our clubs’ financial status significantly, so that we will be able to field teams to the major cycling events in the Caribbean,” the release ended.
