The Brazilian man who is wanted in his homeland for killing a policeman remains in police custody here and will soon be charged with a larceny offence.
Commander David Ramnarine told Stabroek News yesterday that the man is still in police custody at Lethem and efforts are being man to transport him to Georgetown for his court appearance.
Ramnarine had said that the man was held in connection with the theft of a bicycle from a resident in Shulinab, Central Rupununi on Wednesday afternoon. He was then taken to Lethem where he was handed over to the police ranks.
Ranks of the Guyana Police Force were subsequently informed that he was wanted for the murder of a policeman in Brazil some time back.
