Sport Letter
Dear Editor,
I have read with interest an article in the February 25 edition of your newspaper headlined ‘Umpire calls off match after Providence ground deemed unsuitable for play.’
Firstly let me express thanks to the umpire for making a decision that is in the best interest of Guyana’s children, and also to Coach Nedd for taking a stand that is also in the best interest of the children who were under his care and control.
It is my considered opinion that the comments allegedly made by Messrs Sarjoo, Mangal, Drepaul and Allen show clearly that these people have no regard for cricket or for the children who play cricket. I hope that the Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand takes note of the conditions under which some cricket officials want our children to play cricket and makes the appropriate intervention.
Minister, please speak out for our children.
Yours faithfully,
Emily Dodson
