Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old man whose burnt remains were found moments after he returned home in a suspected drunken state.
A release from the Police Publications Office last evening said that the death of Ishmael Khan of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo occurred around 15:30 hrs.
Investigations revealed that Khan went home suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and his house was later seen on fire. Personnel from the Guyana Fire Service responded and extinguished the fire.
The burnt building was subsequently searched and the body of Khan was found in the bathroom area, the release said.
The body is at the West Demerara Regional Hospital awaiting a post-mortem examination.
