Caribbean Airlines recently increased ticket prices for its Georgetown to Port-of-Spain travel run which local travellers have griped about and government is likely to start examining other avenues to address the issue, according to Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon.
He disclosed yesterday at his weekly post-Cabinet briefing that the administration is looking at market forces and will start examining other avenues including competition to the route. Luncheon said Cabinet will continue to focus on addressing the “unreasonable and unfair” structures and service provided by Caribbean Airlines to locals and he called the treatment being meted out to Guyanese an outrage.
“Most people feel we getting shafted by Caribbean Airlines,” Luncheon said, adding that people recognize the injustice of what is happening.
He said too that the regional airline appear impervious to reason as well as national appeal.
