Government has decided to expand the remit of the school inspectorate programme, which would now include the additional responsibility of conducting special inspections across the country.
Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon made the announcement yesterday at his weekly post-Cabinet briefing. He told reporters that the special inspections would be done at schools countrywide and at any level and or any time.
According to Luncheon, the special reports would now be sanctioned at the level of the Ministry of Education, Teaching Service Commission and the Office of the President. He added the role of school inspectors was recently truncated which would facilitate the new expansion in their duties.
