A Herstelling, East Bank Demerara taxi-driver is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he sustained gunshot injuries following a robbery in the city on Monday evening.
According to a police statement, Troy Collins, 35, was robbed of some $200,000 and his personal jewellery while he was at a fish shop at Orange Walk, Bourda around 10:40pm on Monday night.
Police said Collins was confronted by two men armed with handguns and in the men discharged several rounds, which struck Collins in the groin, left thigh and left knee.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
