WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama plans to meet next week with Haitian President Rene Preval in their first face-to-face talks since an earthquake devastated Haiti in January.
The White House talks are scheduled for next Wednesday, a statement said.
The Haiti earthquake killed up to 300,000 people and left a million homeless. Obama designated former U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush to lead efforts to raise money from Americans for quake relief. (Reporting by Steve Holland, editing by Jackie Frank)
