Dear Editor,
Monday March 8, 2010 is a very important day in our international calendar of events; International Women’s Day is celebrated. Throughout the world and here in Guyana on this day we recognize the sterling, priceless, and valuable contributions of women, be it in the fields of arts, science, sport, culture, medicine, administration and, in particular, pharmacy.
There is no doubt that women constitute the backbone of pharmacy in our country, be it in the private or public sector, in the community, or in the areas of administration and oversight; wherever it is, women have made their mark.
Women pharmacists contribute to the overall well-being and health of the nation, and continue to work tirelessly to promote and maintain ethical standards and practices in the profession.
I would urge all practising pharmacists and aspiring ones to continue to strive to make their mark and build our nation. I would also like to salute all the hard-working women of our country on this special day.
Yours faithfully,
Farisha Baksh
Pharmacist
