In reference to a letter by Mr Kamal Ramkarran in SN on March 9, I would like to say that Mr Ralph Ramkarran’s disposition was clearly bent in the direction of registering overseas voters. Mr Kamal Ramkarran talks about a “constitutional right being a constitutional right whether we want it to be so or not,” and he’s correct.
Therefore, since he claims that his father never wanted to imply that he’s for overseas voting, and since he wants to be President of Guyana, let him take the lead, as a lawyer at Cameron and Shepherd, to move an amendment deleting overseas voting from the constitution, since he is the one who brought it up in the first place.
Let Mr Ralph Ramkarran show this nation that he is made of sterner stuff than just talk, and let him show leadership in his party by convincing his comrades why we need to delete overseas voting from not only the constitution, but from our minds.
Yours faithfully,
Cheddi (Joey) Jagan (Jr)
