The clinic was held at the East Canje Lions’ Den at Adelphi and according to its president Devin Sookraj, beneficiaries were happy to receive the assistance. Several said they could not afford to purchase spectacles and were thankful to the Club as they can now “see better and read better.”
Sookraj said he was grateful to president of the NA Lions Leila Clarke for coordinating the exercise. He also said a medical outreach exercise would be held at the same venue in the second week in April where about 200 persons are expected to be treated. A library would soon be opened at the den to benefit children.
Meanwhile at a recent clinic at Bush Lot, the West Berbice Lions Club joined with the NA Lions Club to provide over 100 free spectacles to residents. President of the West Berbice Lions Club Nandram Phagoo told Stabroek News that persons from Abary to Ithaca attended the clinic where they also benefited blood pressure testing. Phagoo said he was pleased at the turnout and plans to host other clinics.
