Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday ordered that a 19-year-old be remanded to prison when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly being involved in the Cool Square Bar robbery-murder, which left a Canada-based Guyanese dead.
Junior Bourne, who stood uneasily in the dock, was told that he was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of murder at which point his mother made a loud outburst, “Ow God! He nah do it!”
The orderly and Prosecutor Stephen Telford cautioned the woman that she was in a court of law and should be quiet during the proceedings.
The charge alleged that on March 2 at Cool Square Bar, Bourne of Lot 687 East Ruimveldt murdered Rawle Harding.
Bourne then also made an outburst in the court, shouting between stutters, “Dem lock up people chirren wrongfully!”
Looking distressed, Bourne was then escorted out of the court by a policeman.
Bourne, who was unrepresented, is expected to make another court appearance on March 31.
Reports are that Harding was shot in the chest after he resisted one of the two gunmen who minutes earlier were seated at the bar drinking. The entire incident was recorded on the bar’s surveillance camera.
