Nineteen-year-old Teo James was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly being found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The teen pleaded not guilty to the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking charge which stated that on March 9 at Transport and Harbours Wharf, First Avenue Bartica, he had 400 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth requested that the teen be remanded to prison and the case be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
The magistrate subsequently transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for March 24.
Reports are that the teen was found with the cannabis in a bag during a routine search conducted by the police at the Bartica Stelling.
