– new singles to debut this year
Jamaican dancehall and reggae singer, Konshens, has moved into directing his own music videos as the artiste said he refuses to be a “sideshow”.
The video for his “The Realest Song” track has received rave reviews in various parts of the world.
In a press release issued through the Wildfire Productions, which says it is now handling promotional material directly from Konshens and his label Subkonshus Music, the artiste said since 2010 begun he has been focusing his energy to directing the music video and promoting his label.
The Jamaican, who recently toured Guyana for what was dubbed the ‘Konshens in Koncert (K.I.K), said that he had intentionally turned down all local bookings in the busy Christmas season and instead focused on completing the “groundbreaking video”.
“I think dancehall in Jamaica is surrounded only two entities and everyone else was a sideshow. I refuse to be a sideshow so as a businessman I opted to take my work elsewhere and redirect my attention until the biz was ready again,” the artiste said in the release.
He said his efforts paid off as persons are not only raving about the video but other videos he has done have started to “get highlighted because of this one, I’ve also been getting a lot of requests to direct videos for people internationally so it’s a good look; di song dem a beat all bout inna earth an di realist song a creep up pon di people inna Jamaica now to su mi like dat.”
The release also said that the Mackeson Stout official spokesperson is scheduled to tour various Caribbean islands from next month including St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbados.
And fans can expect new stuff from the singer as he is teaming up with popular producer ‘Russian’ who produced hits such as “This Means Money” and “Good Girl Gone Bad” among others.
Singles such as “Original Yaad”, “Food”, “Out the Ghetto” and others from the singer are expected to be out this year.
