Dear Editor,
For the past weeks Barticians have been facing daily blackouts again. There are two caterpillar units at GPL, Bartica. The engine for the No 1 unit which works between 5.30 and 7pm and later throws out heavy black smoke and soot which disturbs residents. It also messes up homes, window blinds and furniture; the load seems to be too much for these engines. To supply Bartica and its environs – Four Miles, Byderabo, etc – we need a back-up caterpillar generator set at One Mile, Potaro, to assist at peak times.
Secondly, it may seem that our new fire station is a monument since so many fire engines came in the country recently and not even a small one was sent to Bartica. Come on, whoever is responsible. Don’t wait until Bartica gets a big fire, because then it’s too late; prevention is better than cure.
Thirdly, Bartica has many private hire cars and we need more traffic ranks up here to assist. These cars have big boom boxes and whenever they pass houses, windows vibrate as well as human hearts.
As for stray animals they live on the roadways.
Fourthly, why do we vehicle owners now have to come to Georgetown to renew licences and get fitness? We have a GRA office here in Bartica with desk and phones.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller Snr
