Jerome Khan carts off Continental-sponsored Medal Play golf tourney

Khan, playing off a handicap 14, recorded a gross 83 to end with a net 69 squeezing past 14- year-old Avinda Kishore on a countback.

The two players had ended with net scores of 69 in the tournament where there were only two sub-par scores.

Kishore (15 handicap),  who returned to competition two Saturdays ago following a one-year layoff, was the winner of the Guyoil Tournament and his second place finish on Saturday proved that he is a player to watch in the future.

Kishore is the younger sibling of current Guyana Open champion, Avinash Persaud who recently played fifth at the Trinidad and Tobago Open in Port of Spain.

Carlos Adams with a 28 handicap, recorded a gross 100 for a net 72 in claiming the third position.

Mike Mangal, 7 handicap recorded a gross score of 79, which was the lowest gross of the day.

Secretary of the Lusignan golf Club, Ronald Bulkan said the club was appreciative of the sponsorship from Continental Group, a regular supporter of golf in Guyana.

The tournament attracted 31 players.

The gold circuit continues this weekend when National Hardware will sponsor the tournament.
