Two men were yesterday granted $35,000 bail each after they pleaded not guilty to having three grammes of cannabis in their possession.
Appearing before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, Junior Hooper and Wayne Duncan denied having in their possession three grams of cannabis on March 12 in Georgetown.
Representing each of the defendants, Attorney-at-law Sasha Roberts told the court in her bail application that Hooper was a clothes vendor who resided at 3252 South Ruimveldt Park while Duncan resided at 165 Grove, East Bank Demerara.
Roberts in her bid for Duncan’s bail told the court that he was a psychiatric patient at the hospital who kept getting away from the ward.
However the clinic card shown to the magistrate stated that Duncan had been discharged from the ward since 2008.
Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth did not object to bail being granted. The men are to return to court on June 24.
