– court told
A clothes vendor yesterday pleaded not guilty to making use of abusive language to another woman who had been her friend since 2007, when she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Sherriann Watson denied that she abused Elda Phillips on February 20 at Robb and Cummings streets, thereby breaching the peace.
Watson in her defence told the court that she and Phillips have been friends since 2007 and she was house sitting for the virtual complainant for a month when she was put out.
Meanwhile, Phillips admitted that Watson did stay at her house while she was overseas. The abuse, however, stemmed from money she had loaned to Watson who had failed to repay her. Phillips said both Watson and her mother had abused her.
After each woman had her say, the magistrate placed Watson on $15,000 bail and transferred the matter to Court 10 for March 17.
