The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in conjunction with the Guyana Football Referee Council (GRFC) successfully staged an Introductory Referees Course over the weekend at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
A total 17 persons participated, including six females, and at the end 15 gained passes, one person was absent at exam time and one person failed to acquire the pass mark of 70%. However, that person will be allowed to rewrite the exam.
The highest score was attained by Challius Mc Kennon who ended with 92% while Marineika Welcome scored the highest among the females with 85%.
Other leading scorers were Sean Henry and Kwesi Issacs of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) with 90% each, Kurt Trotman (GDF) – 87%, Raul Rodney (GDF) – 86%, Delroy Henry – 85% and Sherwin Moore – 84%.
The other successful participants were Gillian Tappin, Tomeka Edwards, Lisa Ann Glasgow, Seargant Rebeka Alexander (GDF), Uzzi Yisrael, Kenrick Hernandez, and Desmond Joseph.
The course was conducted by Lawrence Griffith and Roy Mc Arthur.
Meanwhile, the beginners’ course will continue on March 20 and 21 in Linden with a total of 11 persons signaling their intention to participate. The instructors will be Lawrence Griffith, Lindley Langhorne, Selwyn Lancaster and Phillip Gibbons.
The following weekend the course moves to Bartica and Griffith and Ian Beckles will be the resource persons.
