Three Guyanese cricketers Royston Crandon, Neil Williams and Mahendra Nagamootoo were in great form over the weekend in the North Championship cricket league of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board.
The three players spearheaded Moosai Sports to an innings and 71-run win over Aranguez.
Williams struck a masterful 111 while all-rounder Crandon scored 77, in Moosai’s first innings score of 392 all out.
Aranguez, in reply, crumbled for 99 runs, as former West Indies leg-spinner Nagamootoo grabbed 4/13.
Following on Aranguez once again found Nagamootoo a handful and were dismissed for 222 with Nagamootoo taking 4/72 for match figures off 8/85.
In another match former Guyana opening batsman Krishna Arjoon was in great touch scoring a century for Bamboo against Canaan & Bon United. Canaan & Bon United took first strike and scored 187. Arjoon then took over and scored 110 to lead Bamboo to 342/7 declared.
Batting a second time Canaan & Bon reached 220/8 before the match was called off as a draw.
Meanwhile, a fine all-round performance from another Guyanese, Devon Clement, failed to save Barataria who went down to Curepe. Clement scored 68 to lead Barataria to 285 all out. He then grabbed 5/30 as Curepe were dismissed for 222.
However, Barataria could make only 155 in their second innings and despite Clement’s 3/22 in the second innings, Curepe reached the required target.
