The ranks, a Guyana Defence Force release said yesterday, were acting on a “tip off” when they apprehended the suspected illegal dealer at about 11:20am that day. At the time, scrap metal, suspected to be stolen, was about to be offloaded from a 20 feet vessel on the Canje River.
The vessel and its occupants were taken into custody and were later handed over to the New Amsterdam Central Police Station, the army said.
