Maxius was reported missing a month after his disappearance some time in August 2008.
According to his sister, Shemlyn, she thought her brother was at relatives on the West Coast Demerara but when she found out that he was not there, a missing persons’ report was filed at the Timehri Police station.
According to Shemlyn, her brother lived alone, but was not likely to go off for days without informing anyone. “He normally keeps to himself.
When he not working at home he goes for a ride in the afternoon or at night… He doesn’t really go out.”
Shemlyn added that her brother, who worked on a chicken farm, lived in the house behind her at 14 Supply Public Road, EBD. The 31-year-old loved to lift weights and ride she says. He would ride as far as the Linden-Soesdyke Highway at times she pointed out.
When it was discovered that Maxius was missing, the only article found missing also was his blue mountain bicycle, his sister said.
Meanwhile, there have been reported sightings of her brother Shemlyn said but whenever her uncle would go investigating he would come up empty handed. A more recent sighting was last week when they were told that he was seen on the East Coast Demerara.
That however turned out to be a wild goose chase. But it did renew interest in the search for Maxius whose sister refuses to believe that anything sinister may have happened to her brother. “I’m trying not to think of it. If something may have happen then it would have been in the papers,” she added.
Shemlyn started to place ads in the daily newspaper in the hope that her brother or someone knowing of his whereabouts will be able to assist her since police efforts have not been satisfactory. Anyone with information on Shane Maxius can contact Shemlyn on 266-5614 or 266-1324
