The Guyana Table Tennis Association has received donations in aid of their trip to Puerto Rico to take part in the 5th Caribbean Pre-Cadet Championships from March 27 to April 1.
Digicel presented a check valued $100,000 to the GTTA on Wednesday while Western Union yesterday donated $100,000 and travelling gear to the GTTA.
Assistant Secretary of the Guyana Table Tennis Association, Linden Johnson received the cheque on Wednesday and expressed his thanks on behalf of the association stating that the association was very pleased that Digicel decided to come on board at such a crucial time.
Western Union’s Marketing Manager Natheeah King made their contribution yesterday to Deidre Edghill, manager of the team.
Edghill acknowledged Western Union’s support of the team and also thanked the company for allowing them the opportunity to be well uniformed at the upcoming championship.
Speaking to Stabroek Sport, King stated “Western Union’s sponsorship was kindly granted and the company decided to come on board and assist because they believe in the development of youth through sport. Especially when they represent Guyana.”
The Under 13 team will depart for Puerto Rico at 10:15 this morning and will spend one week before returning on April 2.
Guyana will be represented by Jeremy Singh, Amit Mookram, Jamaal Duff, Joseph Johnson, Priscilla Greaves, Chelsea Edghill and Kyle Edghill.
