Contractor R. Bassoo & Sons are presently making initial preparations for the execution of a large building project in Great Diamond.
Part of these works include building a bridge across the main drainage canal for the residents of Block X Great Diamond Housing Scheme and which runs parallel to First Street of this section of the housing scheme.
It was observed that a tube of diameter not more than approximately 1 metre was placed in the canal to allow for sand filling and construction of this bridge.
Residents of this section are fearful that with the impending rains due shortly, massive flooding will affect all of us.
It is impossible for this tube to effectively allow for a smooth and rapid flow of any build-up of water in this canal.
On behalf of the residents of Block X Great Diamond I request immediate inspection by the concerned authorities to see first hand this impending threat to our well being.
This matter must be given the urgency it deserves.
