The Guyana Model Search team is reporting a huge turnout at its first round of auditions this year which was held in the city last weekend.
The two-day casting call included hopefuls for the model search stage in addition to budding designers and stylists. This year model search is specifically targeting plus-size women and based on the initial feedback they have responded to the call.
Filming for the local reality model search show and its spin-offs designer portfolio and the stylist competition is expected to begin shortly. A press release from the team said the first round of eliminations is scheduled for another few weeks.
The selection panel for the auditions this year included pageant expert Pam Dillon of Simpli Royal; international make-up artist and stylist Kirk Cambridge-Delpesche; Negla Brandis; Vivian Dash; Meleesa Payne and Richard Young, who is creative director in the model search circle.
Cambridge-Delpesche was quoted in the press release saying that the experience was tremendous. He called the initiative “forward thinking” and commented that it is part of a modern, Guyanese movement to advance fashion.
