Public-spirited citizens yesterday afternoon assisted a robbery victim on Mandela Avenue, resulting in one of the culprits being caught and handed over to the police.
The victim, 29-year-old Royston Young, was standing on Mandela Avenue at about 1.30 pm when he was attacked by two men with a cutlass and a firearm. According to the police, the men lashed Young about his body with the cutlass, robbed him of his jewellery and escaped.
Young, however, raised an alarm and public-spirited citizens apprehended the perpetrator who was armed with the cutlass. The perpetrator is in police custody and will be charged shortly, police said.
