The third annual Dr. Cheddi Jagan Memorial 50-mile cycle road race will ride off this morning on the Essequibo Coast.

The race, organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed, will commence at 09:00 hours from Supenaam, proceed to Charity before returning to Anna Regina for the finish.

The Veterans, Uprights and Ladies will start at Anna Regina, proceed to Charity and return to Anna Regina for the finish.

Races will also be held in the junior category.

Trophies will be awarded to the winners and there will also be eight prime prizes to be won during the course of the race.

Robin Persaud is the defending champion.

Transportation for cyclists and officials will leave the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport at 05:00 hours this morning and cyclists are reminded to wear their club jerseys and produce their 2010 licences.
