Talesh Mahabeer, a taxi driver, was fined $40,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Suddie Magistrate Court yesterday charged with a traffic violation.

It was alleged that on March 25, Mahabeer drove motor car HB 6806 on the Anna Regina public road and permitted the same vehicle to remain at rest in such position that caused obstruction to other road users. He pleaded not guilty, but was subsequently found guilty and fined $40,000.
