Man tells court ‘someone’ gave him stolen ducks to sell

Magistrate Faith McGusty yesterday sentenced a 37-year-old man to 12 months in prison after she found him guilty of simple larceny.

Ovid Joseph also known as ‘Buckman,’ a father of three of Lot 17 Richmond, Essequibo Coast stole nine ducks valued $30,000 between March 20 and 21 at Henrietta Essequibo Coast. When he appeared before Magistrate McGusty yesterday at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, Joseph pleaded guilty. He told the court that he was given nine ducks by someone to sell and had no idea that they were stolen. The ducks, valued $30,000, belonged to Dexter Collins.

The prosecutor told the court that Joseph had a “criminal history”. The magistrate subsequently sentenced him to 12 months’ imprisonment.
