A post-mortem examination (PME) on coal burner Lambert Patrick Clarke who was found dead with marks of violence to his head and neck yesterday revealed that he died from a heart attack.

Police have since released the four persons they had in custody and have closed their investigation into the matter.

The police said in a press release that government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh who performed the PME on the 58-year-old man gave the cause of death as “heart failure as a result of myocardial infarction”.

A senior police official told Stabroek News yesterday that while, the man did sustain some injuries to the back of his head and neck it may have resulted from his falling on the bridge where he was later found. According to the officer, based on yesterday’s examination, the wounds were not significant enough to cause death.

As a result of this the four persons including Clarke’s wife, the officer said have been released from custody and the investigation closed since it was ruled a natural death.
Clarke, a coal burner was found about one mile from his home located at Emerald Tower Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway around 19:30 hours on Monday night.

He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
