Sean Williams, 39, of 49 Riverview Housing Scheme, Mahaica was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly raping a woman.
Williams was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of rape when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. The allegation is that on February 15, at Mahaica, he had carnal knowledge of a woman against her will and consent.
When asked by the magistrate if he wanted to say anything, Williams said, “I’m not guilty of this offence.”
Prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford asked for bail to be refused and the matter to be transferred to Mahaica.
The accused is expected to make another court appearance on April 6 at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
