The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), feeding off the recent successes of the GT&T 10/10 softball competition, will be hosting a 10/10 hardball competition and a T20 final at the Queenstown ground on Sunday.
President of the club Alfred Mentore and the executive of the DCC will be taking the initiative to introduce 10/10 cricket with the hardball in Georgetown. The four-team classic will feature the DCC, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Everest and the exciting New Line Cavaliers of West Bank Demerara.
According to a release from Mentore, the teams will be competing for a trophy and “a handsome cash prize”.
West Indies player Travis Dowlin, Christopher Barnwell, West Indies under-19 opening batsman Trevon Griffith and Jamal Hinckson are expected to play in the DCC lineup. GCC should also have a strong lineup which will include Leon Johnson, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Tyrell Tull.
Everest will feature Ryan Ramdass, Abilash Dookie, Troy Gonsalves and Leon Scott, while the New Line Cavaliers will come from Gajanand Singh, Andrew Lyght Jr., Paul Wintz and Orin Forde.
The action starts at 10:00 hours and fans are urged not to miss a minute of the excitement. The action will continue on Easter Monday with the traditional Easter Day celebration “Fun in the sun kite flying” outing.
Admission is free on both days.
