Essequibo’s inaugural William France Fitness walk, which was held last Sunday, was dubbed a success by the amputee walker.
Speaking to Stabroek Sport, William `The Conqueror` France declared: “This was one of my best walks ever,” as he elaborated on the event’s success.
According to France, approximately 144 persons, ranging from age 6-62 years, participated in the event.

Richard Roberts and Lorana Harry won prizes for being the oldest male and female participants respectively while Fillum Harry was the youngest male and Jocia Jack the youngest female participant.
In the category for persons with disabilities, Robert Benjamin was first, Gavin Jefford second and France third.
Indira Ramnauth was the winner of the wheel chair category.
France expressed thanks to Regional Chairman of Region Two, Ali Baksh and Barran Cook, the regional administrator.
He also acknowledged the manager of Channel 8 in Region Two, members of Community-Based Rehabilitation group and Region Two Sports Organiser Farook Bacchus and everyone who supported the event including the sponsors.
France said he has already scheduled another Fitness Walk in Essequibo for the same date next year.
