A number of the country’s leading entities have joined forces with the club for the much anticipated event that begins at 13:00 hours.
With some big corporate names like Banks DIH, Digicel and Trophy Stall, the sponsorship money has been upped to over $3.5 million, with the beverage giants leading the way with a massive investment of over $1M for the feature B class event.
Over 70 of the country’s top race horses have inked their names to be a part of the day’s proceedings.
Banks DIH Ltd has pumped $1.2 million and the Banks DIH trophy for the champion in the B class event.
The three-year-old open showdown for Guyana and West Indies bred horses over six and a half furlongs has a tantalizing $350,000 to aim for.
The E class winner will race away with an encouraging $260,000 winners take while $160,000 is the winning prize in the competitive G class five-furlong event.
There is $150,000 available for the winner of the I and Lower event which covers a distance of six and a half furlongs.
The division one I and Lower and three-year-old for non winner fetches a winning purse of $120,000 each and will both be run over six and a half furlongs.
The L class horses will cover a distance of five furlongs and the winner will pocket $80,000 and a trophy.
Among the top flight animals entered so far are Miss Republic, Delmur Gold, Annie Playmate , Home Bush Baby Tropical Passion, Gigli, Sea Rocket, Zenyatta, Mattarazzi, Top of the Line, Zip a Dee Do Dah, Laura lee In Flight, Peaceful, Face the Music, Celebration Time, Stylish Line, Stormy Water and Star Streak.
The champion jockey and trainer will receive trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
