The Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce elected a new executive body at its AGM held at the Guysuco Skeldon Estate two Sundays ago. In a press release the group said Vishnu Doerga was elected president, Krishanand Jaichand, vice president; Sachie Ramnauth, secretary; Ganesh Gangadin, treasurer and Harry Dass Ghaness, assistant secretary/treasurer. Seven committee members were also appointed.
The release said Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh, in his keynote address noted that progress in Guyana was as a result of the aggregate efforts government and the private sector. The Chamber is a member of the Association of Regional Chamber of Commerce whose aim is to continue to promote development in trade and commerce within the region. Its objective is also to work with government and other agencies to protect and strengthen the private sector.
